Who We Serve
Your neighbor needs you… It’s hard to believe the number of people living below the poverty line in the Hill County is an estimated 42,000 and 15,000 are children under 18 yrs!
The people we help are your neighbors; single mothers; children under 18 years of age; elderly persons (often caring for their grandchildren); people who are disabled or suffering from chronic illness; and working, low-income families where most are suffering from food insecurity and poverty.
Your neighbors must often choose between… paying for food vs. utilities, heating, housing and medical bills. (Source: SA Food Bank, Trinity University Study). They live in our rural communities where poverty is often hidden from the average person, desperate levels of poverty in the following counties: Bexar, Kendall, Bandera, Kerr, Comal, Gillespie Uvalde, and Medina.
With the presence of consistent loving support, families, children and individuals gain life skills and resources to go from hopelessness to hope and from dependence and need to wholeness and dependence on Christ. We create opportunities for people to meet needs…and through Christ centered relationships break the cycle of poverty. “A generous man will himself be blessed if he shares his food with the poor.” Proverbs 22:9 |
